Proviridis Goes Underground with Kempower to Redefine Truck Charging Efficiency

Credit: Electric Drives

Proviridis has introduced an innovative underground charging system for trucks, using Kempower 's fast-charging technology. The system connects to a 600kW power unit and can charge up to eight trucks simultaneously while saving valuable depot space. Following a successful trial in Saint Quentin Fallavier, Proviridis plans to expand the solution across France, offering a durable, efficient, and space-saving alternative for logistics operations.

Gireve’s view:

The electrification of heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs) continues to accelerate, and Proviridis' innovative underground truck charging system marks an exciting milestone. By addressing a critical industry challenge—space constraints at depots—this solution paves the way for more efficient, scalable charging infrastructure. With Kempower's durable and high-performance technology, this system highlights how innovation and adaptability are driving the logistics sector toward a sustainable future.

Although HDVs represent only 2% of vehicles on Europe's roads, they account for a disproportionate 26% of the road sector’s greenhouse gas emissions. Solutions like Proviridis' underline the importance of a holistic approach to electrifying HDVs, ensuring not only the deployment of charging stations but also their integration into existing logistics operations seamlessly.

As Europe moves towards ambitious targets under regulations like AFIR, which mandates high-power charging every 60–100 km along key networks, innovations like this are essential for enabling the shift to a greener transportation ecosystem.
