Mark McCaw: Chief Programs Officer

Mark McCaw, Chief Programs Officer

What’s your role at TPCA?

I serve as the Chief Programs Officer. In this capacity, my goal is to ensure TPCA’s work is focused on the needs of our member community health centers (CHCs). I pay attention to what is happening in the health care industry and how it impacts CHCs then coordinate services that can support CHCs. I also look for additional funding opportunities that can support our work with CHCs.?

?

I work primarily with the Directors and their teams of our two largest programs: the Health Care Access Program (helping CHCs with workforce, operations, and leadership) and the Center for Quality in Community Health (helping CHCs leverage their clinical data to improve quality care and operational performance). There is overlap in what these two teams do, so I help with alignment so that our services remain as streamlined as possible.

?

What excites you about coming to work every day?

I get excited about improving health care for underserved folks. CHCs do this directly in their communities and often with great creativity. It takes a special heart and personal dedication to work in community health. I appreciate those who make that commitment. I can’t serve patients directly, so I get excited about lightening the administrative load so those in direct practice can provide exceptional care in their communities.?

?

What’s the best advice you’ve ever heard?

“I never met a person I didn’t like.” – Will Rogers

This is a daily reminder for me that there is good in all of us… and I should try to find that good and draw it out.

?

Who’s someone you really admire?

So many, but here’s one you may not have heard: My church youth director. We had a brief conversation when I was about 18 where he challenged my narrow thinking. It helped me get outside of myself and become more corporately/community-minded that led me to be more inclusive by appreciating and valuing what different perspectives bring.
