It is my commitment and that of the entire Marilyn’s Marketing Moment Magazine team to always provide the latest and most substantive content on the local marketing trends because we believe our readers deserve the best.


MARKETING INTEGRITY

Marketing, at its core, aims to connect consumers with products and services that genuinely meet their needs and improve their lives. Ethical marketers strive to create value, build trust and foster long-term relationships with consumers.

Know this, if the consumer feels they have been wronged then the companies or marketers are doing something wrong.We strive to fix and change this perception before someone else does.

Many marketers, such as myself, prioritize transparency, authenticity, consumer satisfaction and most of all Integrity. Can tell you now INTEGRITY is one of my core values.

As consumers become more informed and aware, the marketing industry is focused on customer experience more than ever before. I will be writing more about the customer experience strategy more in the coming week.

For those who are not knowledgeable about marketing with the use of a fully integrated customer experience strategy in place - please - we need to meet.


CLIENT/CONSUMER/CUSTOMER LOYALTY

Brands & Businesses need to understand the true dynamics of loyalty and healthy consumer relationships.?Just giving 10% off their next purchase, or thanking them and keeping them advised of monthly specials, through a newsletter is no longer enough to keep people loyal to your brand. Nor is asking for feedback (although very important) through surveys or reviews.

We need to evolve from looking at the ‘winning and keeping consumers’ mind-set to winning each transaction, building on the previous win to win (yes, I did that intentionally) in an extremely competitive market.

It is essential that we understand the psyche of the consumer. What makes them buy, support, tick.

Some consumers look at Purpose, or Passion. Some look at Relationships and most look at Price (Commerce). There is some give to price if they perceive the product to be exceptional - up to a point.

Purpose and/or Passion - what makes them tick. The environment comes to mind and that can be both Purpose & Passion, or just one where they will take action to purchase and keep coming back. Environmentally friendly in product, packaging and ingredients - great Purpose. Passion - the consumer loves playing golf (for example) then create imagery around that in all your marketing materials to that consumer.

Relationships - gone are the days that Mom & Dad would be the only ones making the decision to purchase tickets to Family Fun events or destinations. Now, the whole family gets involved to ensure everyone has a good experience. Many go back to the same destination because of the experience.

Oh - and here I write of it again - Consumer Experience - Make it easy to purchase, easy to receive, easy to enjoy and easy to contact someone if something happens. Easy - and delightful. Easy with each transaction.

Always think Passion, Purpose, Relationship and Commerce and bring that into your marketing mix. I would add Experience (I know, I'm nagging) to that as well. Make your marketing relevant and give them an experience they won't forget.

NETWORKING WITH PEERS

You may be wondering what this has to do with marketing - everything. Networking is where you market yourself in an environment that is face-to-face or virtually. Networking with peers is where some of the magic happens.

This past week, I had the pleasure of attending a Marketing Networking event where I met some of my mentors and others in the industry. We spoke about challenges, brainstormed on general creative ideas and supported each other. I personally found out that I was on the right track with how I market myself and how to approach a challenge I was facing. This came from my mentor.

When I speak, or write, about mentorship it can be as simple as following and connecting with someone who is farther ahead on the path you are taking. Purchasing their books, engaging with them at events are two other ways they can be your mentors.

Navigating your career can be seen as a journey rather than a single, definitive goal. One way to navigate is Networking with your Peers.

Marketing is changing rapidly as is the role of the marketer. With the advance of technology, privacy laws and a new approach in advertising to people, your brand deserves to be on top of the trends.

It’s hard work and costs not only $ but time. It’s time and money that is well spent when the marketing plan and strategies are sound. That’s where Marilyn Palmer Marketing comes in. That’s the value I bring to the table.
