Marianthi Giamouridou: From Crete to Milos a story of growth and grit

How it all started: Knocking on the door of opportunity

Marianthi Giamouridou 's Domes journey began with a leap of faith in 2017. Fresh from sending out her CV, she found herself sitting across from George Kyriakou — then Front Office Manager — for an interview for a Guest Relations Agent role at Domes Of Elounda, Autograph Collection . "At the time, the role went to someone with German language skills. But I wasn’t discouraged," she recalls. "I loved Crete and was determined to join Domes."

A year later, Marianthi knocked on Domes’ door once more. This time, after two more interviews, she landed the Guest Relations Agent role at Domes of Elounda, Autograph Collection. "I didn't have a specific goal back then," she admits. "I was simply excited to work in a place I loved and in a role I had been pursuing for years. But soon enough, I realized exactly how I wanted to grow within the company."

The journey of growth: From Guest Relations Agent to Operations Manager

Fast forward to today, Marianthi stands as the Operations Manager of Domes White Coast Milos , one of Domes' most iconic properties. Her path has been paved with memorable moments, funny encounters, and valuable lessons.

One of her fondest memories? "Guests would often struggle with my name. They’d call me things like Materatsi, Maryline, or even Mazerati!" she laughs. "So, I’d tell them my name means 'Maria + flowers' in Greek and that they could call me 'Mary Flower' instead. It stuck! To this day, some guests still call me that."

But with every laugh came challenges that required grace under pressure. In 2019, she faced a particularly tricky situation while accompanying guests to a local traditional event in Crete. Upon arrival, they found the event had been rescheduled without prior notice. "Initially, there was confusion, and I could sense some disappointment among the guests," she explains. "But I stayed calm, pivoted quickly, and guided them to other points of interest in the village. We ended up having a great evening, and the guests left with smiles on their faces. That’s what hospitality is all about — making the best of any situation."

The success story: How Domes shaped her path

Marianthi credits much of her success to the growth mindset fostered at Domes Resorts. "As the company expanded, I had the chance to work at different properties across Greece and beyond. One highlight of my career was spending a year in Portugal at Domes Lake Algarve, Autograph Collection — Domes’ first property outside of Greece". She also points to postgraduate studies and coaching programs offered by Domes as vital tools in her development.

However, what stands out most is the mentorship she received along the way. "I’ve been fortunate to work with incredible individuals like Jerry Diamantatos , Ioanna Nastou, and Antigoni Naskami . They’ve guided me, challenged me, and shaped my professional identity. Their support has been invaluable."

Beyond work: A passion for nature and exploration

When she's not leading operations at Domes White Coast, Marianthi finds peace in nature. "I love traveling, going on excursions, and in recent years, I’ve taken up hiking. There’s something about being in nature that resets the mind and soul."

Marianthi’s journey is a testament to the Domes spirit — resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to creating memorable experiences for guests and colleagues alike.
