Miami, FL, September 12, 2024 - The wait is over: Maria Becerra presents "Agora" one of the most anticipated releases by the artist's fans. The single was teased in December 2022 during a stream where Maria, alongside her producer Xross, sang the chorus. Since then, over 200,000 videos have been made featuring the chorus of this long-awaited song. ? With lyrics intertwining Spanish, Portuguese, and a touch of English, "Agora" is a ballad with bossa nova influences that speaks of love, pain, and the desire to reconnect. "Agora was born from a playful moment with Maria. We were singing in Portu?ol just for fun. I grabbed all the instruments—bass, guitar, drums, keys, and synthesizer—and created a quick base for Mari to record something on top. She was thrilled with her portuguese chorus and uploaded it without imagining it would become something so big", added Xross, her producer. ? The music video, directed by Julian Levy and Lucas Fossati, and produced by Asalto, captures the song's dreamlike atmosphere by transporting it to a dark mermaid beach from which Maria projects the idea of reflecting on the past she wishes to return to. With a massive display of art and photography, the video, co-starring Francisco Romero (“La Sociedad de la Nieve”), enhances the highly anticipated single using black and white for the first time. According to Julián Levy, “The challenge as directors is always to achieve a metaphorical connection between the visual narrative and the song. Beyond the childlike depictions of mermaids, we were captivated by the idea of giving these mythological creatures emotional depth. That’s where we found the connection between the lyrics and the visuals. How many times and how many relationships have we ended up unable to defy our nature? How much remorse does a mermaid carry for each of her victims?” ? "Our approach was to capture what the audiovisual world stirred in us when we heard this song: that painful moment of loss and separation, similar to the feeling Maria experiences towards the end of the video. We wanted to create a break with this highly anticipated release and present Maria in a striking, beautiful, and iconic way," commented Lucas Fossati. ? "This song is very special to me. 'Agora' took a lot of work. We made five versions, refining and improving the sound and lyrics over the course of a year until we achieved the best version," added Maria.
