Although there is some uncertainty with jobs right now, we want to stay connected with you during this time. We would like to share with you what we are seeing in the market and how we are moving today in anticipation of it.
First off, we hope that you and your family are doing well. No matter what zip code you’re in, we are all experiencing the same thing in America. It is a historic event. Before we get into the economic side of things, we pray that you and your loved ones remain safe through it all.
While there is a lot of uncertainty going on, I want to assure you that the work you do is important to companies. Throughout one of the longest expansions of our economy, the demand for cost accounting was through the roof. Unemployment for manufacturing accounting and finance professionals was under 3%. Now imagine how important cost accounting will be if we do slide into a recession. They will have to put even more attention on every penny and every hour and every ounce of material. American companies need your services.
We don’t have a crystal ball to know what is coming, but even in the worst case and we start to experience an economic downturn and unemployment goes up, the market still needs cost accountants. One way we do believe the markets will respond to our current situation is through an increase in contract work. In some industries, hiring full-time employees may slow down. Companies will look to avoid risk in the downturn and move to more contract hiring. This isn’t to say your take-home pay will be cut or that you can’t experience “full time” work, but the form of your employment agreement might change temporarily.
Companies are still hiring full-time employees in this season. We have many clients who are continuing the interview process with our candidates during this “social distancing” by using video interviews. The demand for what you do has not gone down, but we do foresee the demand for contract roles increasing. The market needs your skillset. We need to be ready to adapt to how we give the market your services.
We want to know how we can help you. If you are open to considering contract roles, we want to hear from you. Please either reply to this email or click the red button below.

Things are changing week to week. If we can’t help you today, please let me know if the time comes and we can help you. Contract roles won't be the only roles we work on. If we can help you find a better full-time role as well let us know.
We do still have full-time searches going on. For an ongoing look at what we are working on check our jobs pages.
