Marching into springtime.
The Point.1888
The next generation of brand licensing. ???Our podcast “The True Purpose Podcast” is available on all platforms.
Hello, LinkedIn Legends!
Welcome to edition #8 of 'More to The Point' where we find ourselves at the end of a very busy March! How did that happen? This year is flying by, but we are welcoming warmer weather and brighter daytimes. We had lots happening in the lead-up to Easter and have been to lots of events, one thing you can guarantee in our world of licensing is that no two days are ever the same, so here is what we have been up to.
Lords Cricket Ground.
Some of our team had an exciting Monday morning last week when they travelled to Lord's Cricket Ground for a brand immersion meeting on all things England Cricket and The Hundred.
The Point.1888 and Spotlight.1888 are currently delivering the brand extension strategy for The ECB ?- undertaking a full market due diligence study, establishing the opportunities and providing a comprehensive plan to build long-term sustainable revenue streams.
With an exciting couple of years ahead for England Cricket that includes The Women’s Ashes in 2025 we are working on a bespoke strategic plan for each brand and the subsequent retail and our licensing approach.
If you would like to learn more about how we can help you develop a strategically informed, true purpose, retail-focused brand extension strategy, please contact our Director for Strategy, [email protected] .
Licensing for Retail Day.
On the 7th of March, our team headed over to the inspiring and insightful event hosted by Licensing International and Brand Licensing Europe , Licensing for Retail Day, which saw a huge 280 attendees! Our CCO Bethan Garton and Head of Product and Brand Janine Richmond had a great day and delivered a fantastic presentation on the phenomenal brand Historic Royal Palaces , 1000 years in 15 minutes.
CEO and Founder Will Stewart hosted a round table at the event to discuss all things retail, sharing some valuable insights—a big thank you to everyone who came and has been in touch since the day and of course to the organisers of the event.
The team attended the Moomin Licensee Day in Stockholm.
Becky Langer , Head of Commercial and Brand, Will Stewart and Sophie Fennessy , Brand and Product Development Manager, attended the Moomin Characters? Licensee Day in Stockholm.
The team had a great day; and as you can see the venue was stunning, we look forward to celebrating Moomin 80 next year.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Rights & Brands and Moomin Characters? for hosting such an incredible event.
If you would like to work with us on this wonderful brand, please get in touch with Becky Langer for any opportunities.
The True Purpose Podcast bonus episode.
In true, True Purpose style we disrupted the norm and released a bonus episode for season #2, in this episode we discuss our season #1 guests, what we learned, and of course we took to the round table to debate the biscuit choices of each guest and determine who the ruler of the biscuit tin is
Will Stewart, Jenna Thompson our Strategic Social Media Manager and Carrie Sharland our Senior Product Development Manager, come together in this high-energy recap as we uncover some reoccurring qualities that run through all of the guests' stories and how our listeners can relate and take some golden nuggets of knowledge from each of them.
We truly love creating our podcast, we feel we are privileged to share conversations which you will not have heard anywhere else, with some incredible guests who have never been interviewed on a podcast before. We are (at the time of writing this) the only licensing agency in the UK with a podcast, maybe even the world, we are sharing conversations with brand owners who are completely new to our audience. This is where we see the true value for you.

Cheltenham Races.
Bethan Garton and Mary Lewis had an absolutely fabulous day out at Cheltenham Races with the MISIRLI UK team, thank you for being such great friends inside and outside of licensing.
Happy 5 years Carrie Sharland.
Legend Carrie Sharland reached a very special milestone here at The Point.1888 in March, she has been slaying product development for so many of our incredible brands like Unicorn Academy, The World of David Walliams, The Tiger Who Came to Tea, Mog and Friends, Tom Gates and so many more over the last 5 years. We are super lucky to have Carrie, here's to many more years of incredible product development.
Supporting others at The Point.1888.
We are exceptionally proud to be supporters of The Light Fund with CCO Bethan Garton an active member of The Light Fund Committee giving her time throughout the year to plan and run events. Our team attended The Northern Quiz on the 21st of March, where our Brand and Product Development Manager Sadie Wright and team were awarded 'the pants of doom', we think you can guess from this newfound title that Sadie might need some extra trivia practice. Well done team, this is such an important event for a great cause.
We also make contributions through ticket purchases for the quiz and treasure hunts, sponsoring a round of the quiz and donating prizes for raffles, prizes for auctions and sweets and snacks from our lovely partners Barratt.
We are proud sponsors of Autistic Football Club in Shenfield. This club is growing fast and is such a great local cause. The difference the club makes to the families that they support is outstanding. The club was founded by Charlie, age 12, who as an autistic football player wanted to create a space where football was accessible for all.
Our team are all allocated 4 charity days per year to give to any charity of their choice, this can be volunteering, helping out at an event or anything that they wish. Currently, the team includes a scout leader and football coach and we are looking for something the team can do together, so if you have any lovely ideas please email helloyou@thepoint1888 and we will look into it.
We absolutely love representing charitable organisations like Battersea , Team GB and Historic Royal Palaces so if you are a charitable brand looking to extend into retail and develop a bespoke strategy, please contact Katie Wilkinson or Becky Langer .
Products to be proud of at The Point.1888.
Last Monday our product pick of the week was Spin Master 's Unicorn Academy X Character.com collection which launched Sunday the 24th of March to kick off celebrations for Unicorn Month.
Big shout out to our Carrie Sharland for your work on this EXTRAORDINARY collection.
