Marching into 2024
2023 was a mixed year - there were new milestones (most important of all was the birth of my second child and attaining the Master in Real Estate from NUS), decisions to be made, and of course things that have created not-so-positive emotions.
Most people would have aimed to write their reflection piece perhaps on the very first day on 2024 but I felt that if it takes a bit longer to solidify what I looked to achieve, it might be more worthwhile. So here we go!
As I reflect, meditate, speak to family/leaders/mentors, and look forward to 2024, here are three key things that will guide me forward both professionally and personally.
"Teachability, Gleaning, Imparting"

Teachability - "The hardest and the easiest thing to change is your mind". There are many points of view, thoughts, and seeing things from various angles. Sometimes we can be blindsided or just like the Israelites not wanting to get into the PromiLandland, we could really be restricted on what we can achieve, or do differently that can make a huge difference to our and our family's lives. Often than not, this comes with a lot of discomfort, adjustment, and trying out new ways/approaches that we have grown accustomed to.
Gleaning - Once we have the open-mindedness to hear, receive, and potentially implement them, finding avenues/people you can learn from is necessary. I am a big believer of å¬å›ä¸€å¸è¯ï¼Œèƒœè¯»å年书 - meaning if you listen to words/advice from wise people, you will learn more than if you read 10 years' worth of books. However, often we might have to be willing to share some of our points of view and seek out the right people to learn from. Also importantly, it should never be just a "Select all, copy and paste" but done with discernment on what could really be applicable in your context.
Impartation - Heard this analogy before - "The Dead Sea is dead because it is only receiving minerals but not releasing them". As we take this journey of growing, learning and/or taking many knocks along the way, let's learn to 'release' them to those who just got onto this journey - but having said that, be mindful of how and whom you imparted to because if they do not have the open-mindedness or an attitude to learn, chances are, you might seem as being 'irritating' , 'busybody' or being 'imposing'.
I am looking forward to carrying this spirit in my journey as a man, husband, father, business owner, realtor, division leader, and trainer.
Have an awesome 2024 everyone!
