March updates from the EEF

The EEF, with the support of World Horse Welfare, launched a new survey this month to look in detail at the issue of at-home horse welfare and the use of training methods.

This survey has been designed to gain more insight into a particular topic and allow us to work closely with our member National Federations on proactive measures to handle these cases.

The survey is available until April 5 on this link. After this, the results will be fully discussed in a panel webinar on Monday April 15 (1500 CEST) with stakeholders including grooms, National Federations and World Horse Welfare. Sign up for the webinar using this link now.

In preparation for the Longines EEF Series events, the EEF has been working with the organizers on event sustainability. A webinar was held highlighting the strong actions already in place at several shows, and the areas for development. Mannheim has developed a particularly robust strategy and presented their experiences. Hear more here.

Meanwhile our members, British Equestrian have unveiled a new horse welfare charter. The charter has been developed to be adopted across the industry, by all who have any connection to horses and other equids. Under six headings, of empathy, care, respect, consideration, ethics and learning, the charter sets out what must be done to ensure all our horses’ needs are met. For more information see the British Equestrian site.

We celebrated International Women’s Day with a focus on EYLE, our young persons’ development programme. Sandra Ruuda, President of the Swedish National Equestrian Federation and a graduate of their Young Leaders programme gave an inspirational interview on her experiences in the industry. Read the full interview now.

We've been hard at work on some new communication channels to better service and promote our projects.

The Longines EEF Series now has a dedicated website: https://les-eef.eu/ alongside Facebook and Instagram pages.

The Equestrian Young Leaders Europe is also live on Facebook and Instagram.
