March Newsletter

The month of March has been a rollercoaster of emotions at the Quizrr office and team channels as we’ve been following the reality show called #CSDDD.

Will they or won’t they has been the topic of many lunches, coffee breaks and meetings. #Germany abstaining to vote caused shockwaves, #Sweden abstaining to vote caused outrage. As the plot thickened, we were preparing to re-edit our upcoming #HRDD training.

“CSDDD is dead, we need to move on,” a colleague proclaimed. “It’s going be about national legislations now.”

Then, in a last dramatic turn of events, CSDDD passed, even though the law had undergone a drastic downsizing from its original proposal. With raised thresholds and exclusion of high-risk sectors, the directive's effectiveness has been greatly diminished, raising concerns about its ability to adequately address corporate sustainability issues.

But looking on the bright side, CSDDD is not dead, and human rights and sustainability are here to stay. This whole time, we’ve been working behind the scenes building our own HRDD training to help you best prepare for the coming legislations, whenever that may be.

Here’s what we can learn from this tumultuous time:

  • Despite being significantly weakened from its original proposal stage, CSDDD marks an evolution in EU legislation aimed at corporate accountability for sustainability issues within supply chains.
  • CSDDD aside, human rights due diligence is buzzing all over the world. Now eyes are shifting to the US where the National Action Plan on Responsible Business Conduct (#NAP) has been presented. Coincidence? Of course not!
  • Implementing HRDD at your company doesn't have to be complicated. Our coming HRDD training will give you all the tools you need and exclusive insights and best practices from other leading companies.
