Workforce 2.0: Unlocking potential in a machine-augmented world

“Organizations are taking the opportunity to reset their People strategy to intentionally build more sustainable, more inspiring, less exhausting work models.”
Kate Bravery , Senior Partner, Mercer

As we look ahead to 2024, the world of work is in full metamorphosis, forever changed by the seismic shifts of the past few years. Societal dynamics are reshaping work structures, technology and AI are advancing at breakneck speed and we are still navigating the aftermath and recovery of a post-pandemic world.

We wanted to hear how business executives, HR leaders, employees and investors were navigating this evolving landscape. More than 12,200 voices contributed to this year’s Mercer Global Talent Trends study , and we are excited to share the results with you.

This year’s survey draws insights from 845 C-Suite executives, 1920 HR leaders, 9449 employees and 84 investors from across 17 geographies and 16 industries.?Their input defined the trends that are shaping the People agenda in 2024.

Global trends and innovations in transactional risk insurance

After the lofty highs seen earlier this decade, the mergers and acquisitions market slowed down in 2023, in part due to widespread economic uncertainty and financial challenges. But rather than dampen the market for transactional risk insurance, both buyers and sellers continue to pursue robust coverage, and the resulting competition among insurers has led to preferential pricing for transactional risk coverage. As they compete for premium dollars, insurers also are seeking to innovate and broaden their products.

In this episode of? Risk in Context , Craig Schioppo , 达信 ’s Global Head of Transactional Risks, talks to colleagues Craig Warnke , Martha Barajas , Hans Swolin , Leo Flindall ACII , Kane Sim and Haoren Fu about transactional risk trends across different regions. Each speaker shares advice for companies looking to manage their transactional risks throughout 2024 and beyond.

Insured benefits for internationally mobile employees

Global assignments are on the rise again, and for many multinational organizations they remain crucial to establishing and expanding their overseas operations.

But placing employees on international assignment comes with unique challenges, requiring unique health and risk benefit programs for a diverse, international workforce. We set out to better understand how employers are structuring their international benefits - and to allow mobility professionals the opportunity to compare their organization’s benefits strategy and future plans against peers - with a Mercer Marsh Benefits global survey into the top emerging trends in the international insured benefits space.

Here are the five key takeaways for businesses:

  1. Being able to attract and retain talent while balancing costs is critical.
  2. Communication is everything.
  3. Mobility strategies must evolve to help employers manage the new shape of assignments.
  4. Employee needs are changing.
  5. Businesses must prioritize active risk management in the age of crises.

Discover how organizations are accounting for these critical trends as they build coverage for international remote workers, inclusive benefits, cost containment measures and more.
