Building a budding future in El Salvador with the Lavazza Foundation
There is a special buzz in the highlands of Chalatenango, El Salvador. In a place where farming is ever more commonly a family affair, the Foundation is sowing hope with the “Sustainable Community Coffee” project, which aims to reconnect younger people with coffee growing.
In partnership with Soleterre , more than 50,000 coffee seeds have been planted. Three schools are now cultivating organic gardens, and the land dedicated to coffee has grown from 21 to 50 hectares. In addition, we are promoting sustainable agricultural practices and training young people on crucial topics such as emotional education and violence reduction.
With the “Sustainable Community Coffee” project, the Foundation aims to build a future where young farmers don’t have to leave their land in search of better opportunities, turning coffee into a bridge to a sustainable tomorrow.
Celebrating Women's empowerment in the coffee industry at the United Nations: the 2024 Lavazza Calendar exhibit
The journey of "More than Us", the 2024 Lavazza Calendar celebrating the value of collaboration, continues. On March 11, we took the Calendar exhibit to the Delegates Entrance of the United Nations Headquarters in New York, on the occasion of the 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women : a visual journey that tells the story of Africa through the artistic gaze of three photographers from that very continent.
Together with Ambassadors and UN institutional figures, Francesca Lavazza and Veronica Rossi illustrated our commitment to the empowerment and promotion of women's entrepreneurship. They also shared a message from Sheila Ampumuza , representative and director of the NGO Sawa World, highlighting the importance of fostering education for many young women, which is one of the objectives of “Ujana Coffee Project” in Uganda.
