Female Empowerment: Our Foundation’s Commitment
70% of the people who cultivate coffee are women, but only 20-30% of them own the land they farm. A fact that makes us stop and think. To try to bridge this disparity, we partner with our Foundation (Fondazione Giuseppe e Pericle Lavazza Onlus) to implement training programs dedicated to sustainable agricultural practice and in support of women’s empowerment in coffee-producing countries. A concrete example of how we are upholding our commitment in achieving two of our priority SDGs: Goal 5 – Gender Equality – and Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth.
The “Coffee to Be Reborn” project was developed in Guatemala with the local NGO, Verdad y Vida, and has empowered more than 180 courageous women to revive their family coffee-growing businesses. One of those women is Elvira.

The coffee of tomorrow, between new aromas and sustainability
?Coffee is a very complex product, both for its infinite taste potential and for the positive impact it can generate on an environmental and social level. Lavazza Group’s R&D is working on two fundamental development axes: the research of coffee bean varieties resistant to climate change and post-harvest processes to exalt the plant’s natural aromatic qualities. As one of the most important companies in the sector, we believe it’s our duty to contribute to create a culture around coffee, enabling consumers to discover all the nuances of taste that our experts are able to identify and enhance? Fabio Scaltritti , Chief R&D Officer Lavazza Group
