Call for nominations: Michel Déon Prize
The Royal Irish Academy’s Michel Déon Prize for non-fiction 2024 is open for nominations until Monday, 8 April 2024. The Michel Déon Prize?will be awarded to the author of the book that the judging panel consider to be the best work of nonfiction published in the previous two years from the eligible categories - autobiography, biography, cultural studies, history, literary studies, philosophy, travel. The winner will receive €10,000 and give the 'Michel Déon Lecture' in France in 2025. Nominate a book for this year's Michel Déon Prize
Nowlan Digitisation Grants scheme open
The RIA?seeks applications for this scheme which aims to expand the range of digitised historical and archaeological sources available through open and free access to researchers, for private study or education purposes. Applications close on Thursday, 11?April 2024.? See details and apply
News from the Digital Repository of Ireland
The deadline to apply for the Legacy Research Collection Deposit Pilot Scheme has been extended until 29 March 2024. This Scheme, run by the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) in collaboration with Irish Data Stewardship Network Sonraí , is an exciting new initiative to support researchers in preserving their research data for long-term access and discovery. In a new blog post, DRI's Research Data Project Manager Beth Knazook answers researchers' questions about the Scheme. Read more and apply

RIA Library will host?a lunchtime lecture?by Dr Angela Byrne on?Tuesday, 9 April at 1pm. It?marks the centenary of Cynthia Longfield's adventure on the St George expedition. How is Ulster Unionism defined and is it misunderstood in the Republic? Join us?on Thursday, 18 April at 6pm for a?panel discussion exploring the different meanings of Unionism and how they can be explained to societies outside Northern Ireland. Our speakers are: Linda Ervine MBE (Founder, Turas Irish language project), Philip Orr MRIA (Historian) and Glenn Patterson (Director, Seamus Heaney Centre).
