March 2024
Hi - Jo Carter here - welcome to Services Week…
and my March newsletter!
Going Beyond the ‘Usual Suspects’
Do you want to better connect with people with multiple characteristics when consulting and researching, so that your solutions are designed with inclusivity and equity from the start?
If you haven’t yet heard of TiG - (The Intersectional Grid) developed by Barod and Anne Collis, this might be just the thing you’re looking for.
Anne then applies other methods to open up the conversation and categorise and prioritise what was said.
I recently spent a really enlightening hour with Anne hearing all about her PhD thesis and the work she did with Barod.
Her thesis has an everyday alongside version. Check it out. This means non-academics, like me, can understand the content - what a brilliant idea!

Where Do Service Designers Fit Within an Organisation?
If I were to ask you where service designers should sit within your organisation, what would you say?
The answer isn’t obvious.
Kate Tarling describes the different levels service designers work at which I think remains useful in helping to think this through. Even though the post is old by internet standards!
Thanks to Emma Nicol on our latest intake of Service Design in Practice for sharing this.
