March 2024
Letter from our President:
I hope everyone has been enjoying this fabulous “Pre-Spring” weather. This year we have moved continuing education events for the Kansas side to a new location, inside of Corporate Woods. The next event will be in April – Bridging the Gap Between Leaders and Physicians. You can register for this event via the website at gkcmgma.wildapricot.org. There are monthly educational events to help broaden your medical practice knowledge. The location of the events rotate between Corporate Wood, North Kansas City Hospital, and Webex.
We are also very happy to be a co-sponsor to the HUB Healthcare Academy Event, “Investing in Your Success”. This is a full day, NO-CHARGE, event for medical managers, scheduled for Tuesday, March 12th at the Boulevard Brewing Company.
One of the best parts of the educational events is the opportunity to network with other practice managers and get to know your peers in the community. It’s good to be able to help someone out when they have a question or a need, and then also to know who you can contact for any specific question or situation you may encounter. The healthcare management community is a tightly knit community, and works best when we work well together.
I hope everyone makes the effort to spend some time outside relaxing & enjoying the weather with family and friends. See you all soon at one of the upcoming educational sessions!

I joined MGMA in January 2015.? I joined because I wanted to be connected to, involved with, & give back to, the medical community in Kansas City.? My dad was an internal medicine doctor in the Kansas City area since before I was born.? The medical community is full of hard-working, caring, & fascinating people.? I quickly developed a friendship with Jess & Don Palmer, which kept me coming back to meetings.? She dubbed me “pro bono counsel of record” & though I felt my contributions were modest, she made me feel they were monumental (that’s the kind of person we all know Jess is).? It is tempting to sit behind a desk all day, & the work is there to do just that.? But I firmly believe I want to make a life, not just a living.? MGMA is one way I get out of my own little corner of the world & out into my community.
In addition to a few other areas of practice, my firm specializes in medical debt collection.? Typically hospitals & health care providers retain a collection agency, & then we have an agreement with those agencies for placement of accounts when legal is needed & advantageous to pursue.? We make it easy for you to shore up the back end of your revenue cycle, in a way that doesn’t impinge on the precious time you need to spend on your business.? There are many good agencies out there, & we work with the best.
Thanks for having me as a member & board member, & I hope to talk to you soon.
