March 2023 - Relaunch of "Negotiation from A to Z: 26 tips to improve every negotiation"

With Easter nearly upon us, and the first quarter of the year done, it is a great time to reflect on how 2023 has started. For me, I feel that there is a much more positive feeling around, despite a certain amount of economic doom and gloom.?People seem to be returning to the office more and the buzz is returning to Melbourne's CBD.

My highlight for March was relaunching my book Negotiation from A to Z: 26 tips to improve every negotiation.?The book is now available as both an ebook and paperback from Amazon in most countries.?To celebrate the relaunch, I have a special offer which is set out below.

Another big project completed just in time for this edition is a revamp of my website with a much more detailed overview of my training offerings.?Head over to the Training page on the website to see all my standard course offerings.

I wish you all a happy Easter with not too many difficult negotiations with yourself about how much chocolate to eat!?For those who don't celebrate Easter, happy?Eid or just happy days!

Until next month,

Nicole

Negotiation Tip of the Month

Before you even reach the negotiation table, there's something that will have a significant impact on the outcome - your reputation.

Your counterpart may come to the table expecting you to be competitive or collaborative.?Or perhaps they don't know what to expect.?Either way, their starting expectation will contribute to the outcome.?

In one study, negotiators were told that?the person they were about to negotiate with was either tough, cooperative, or had an unknown reputation.?These were randomly assigned descriptions and did not necessarily reflect the actual negotiation style of the negotiators.

Interestingly, the negotiators portrayed as tough achieved worse outcomes than others.?And the negotiators portrayed?as collaborative achieved?better outcomes than others.

How do you think others perceive you as a negotiator?
