This is kind of nutty!
Recently, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has found itself in the middle of a new debate regarding peanut butter. Some travelers have been bringing containers of peanut butter through security checkpoints, and the question of whether it should be considered a liquid or a solid has been raised. This debate has led to confusion and frustration among travelers, as different TSA agents may interpret the rules differently. According to the TSA, peanut butter is considered a liquid due to it's ability to take shape dictated by it's container.
You might be wondering...how does this relate to Lubriplate? Well, in the grease and lubrication world, we use food comparisons to describe the consistency of greases. Grease that has the consistency of peanut butter is typically referred to as a "normal" or "semi-solid grease". Semi-solid greases have a smooth and creamy texture, and are usually used in applications where a high degree of lubrication is required. This type of grease typically has a consistency that falls in the NLGI grade 1 or 2 range, which means that it has a relatively low viscosity and can be easily applied to various surfaces. We want to hear your thoughts, do you think peanut butter is a solid, or a liquid?
