Galileo students conduct a DNA fingerprinting protocol.

March 2023 Biotech 1 Newsletter

Galileo students used their biotech skills to do BABEC’s DNA fingerprinting lab. this technique is used for forensics, paternity testing, or identifying human remains. students used DNA fingerprinting to compare three different suspects to a crime scene sample to find out which of them matched the crime scene and who is exonerated.

Students worked in teams, studying the case and using different reagents, such as buffer, loading dye, and restriction enzymes. Students then made and loaded their gels.
