MapInfo Monthly 2025.1
Peter Horsb?ll M?ller

The calendar now says 2025.
Unless I look at my paper calendar on my desk. Time seems to affect that paper calendar less than it affects my digital calendars.
Wouldn't it be nice if you had the option to say: "No, I wasn't done with yesterday. I'll have another go at yesterday today!"
There are days when I feel like that - for various reasons. According to the paper calendar on my desk, there have been many of those days.
Or maybe, sometimes, I just forget to tear off the page.

You remember things better if you have done it.
To give you a chance to practice your #MapInfoPro skills the #MapInfoMonday articles will now and then hold exercises allowing you to train your skills.
These exercises use Open Source or sample data from the @Precisely Data Experience. In this way, you can perform the exercises using the same data in the article.

Interacting with the Table List
We started the year with a technical article on integrating the functionality of your MapBasic application into the Table List in MapInfo Pro.
This question came to me from a customer via our partner CDR Group.
There are a few steps in this:
#?? 1. Add a menu item to the contextual menu of the Table List
#?? 2. Check how many tables the user has selected
#?? 3. Get the table name or ID, and act on the table.
You can find the MapBasic tips and example code in the article here.
Manually Selecting Records in the Map Window
Sometimes you have to select records from the map window manually.
MapInfo Pro comes with a wide range of selection tools such as:
?? The Select tool
?? The Radius Selection tool
?? The Boundary Selection tool
?? The Polygon Selection tool
Besides these built-in tools, I'd also like to highlight a few that come with MapBasic add-ins:
?? Select by Style from MapCAD, created by our German partner AGIS GmbH.
?? Select by Map Extent from WindowHelper
You can find all the tips on manually selecting records in the article here.
