Many varied interests
Sylvie Verwaayen
Multidisciplinary Artist at SylverDesign Fine Art @sylverdesignart
I have always had varied or different interests throughout my life. My parents let me try a lot of stuff when I was younger and I continued it growing up. I still like to do something that I never have before, like the mural project earlier this year. I paint and illustrate a wide range of subjects including abstract, portraits, florals and landscapes. Earlier this year I played around with air based clay.
I am a digital designer as well doing graphics and website design and continue to use the Adobe print suite. I maintain all the social media assets for the gallery that I work for and work at the gallery itself.
Teaching is also one of my passions and I will continue in the future. Right now, I am experiencing having my mind jump back and forth from different projects, and I am finding that I really like it. Now don't think that I am a workaholic! I am firmly a type B (laid back) person but I do like my busy-ness and then quietness.
It's hard to believe its been over 20 years since I have been doing my art and following my heart. No regrets on any choices in the past, they were all pretty good actually. I am still looking for new opportunities, to stretch myself and move me from my comfort zone. Speaking of comfort zone, to create our last mural, I got certified to work a scissor lift and I went as high as 23 ft up in the air. I proved to myself that I could handle the physical aspects of the job. Some days we worked from 9 to 13 hours per day over 12 days straight.
