I was thinking about how we introduce others professionally. And specifically thinking about Mackenzie Thorpe. For over 20 years I have always introduced him as Artist Mackenzie Thorpe, however a great part of his 30 year career has been given to charitable fundraising, philanthropy with organisations such as The boys and Girls Club of America, Edge in Japan, Dyslexia Association in New Zealand,Telethon 7 in Australia, The Para Olympics in England along with Alzheimers, Dementia, Variety, The British Legion numerous foundations- the list is endless.
Last week he released a limited edition print A Light in A Storm, to support the loss of life through #Covid19 with a little known charity “Cruse Bereavement Care”. The response to both the print and the profile of the charity has been amazing and the final part of the story is Mackenzie has donated the original painting to not quite the highest bidder but something like that! Further details attached…
Perhaps it is testament to his working class roots that Mackenzie like the fantastic Marcus Rashford is aware of what is needed and how he can help not only in times of a pandemic but everyday, somebody some where needs a helping hand, a kind word, a meal.
Mackenzie Thorpe a man of many hats…..
