Medium-term risks encompass job displacement due to AI automation, economic disruption and widening inequality, cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and erosion of human skills and decision-making capabilities.
Long-term AI Risks
Long-term risks involve the potential loss of human agency as AI systems become more autonomous, existential threats from advanced AI systems pursuing misaligned goals, unintended consequences of deploying highly capable AI in complex systems, and potential misuse in areas like bioengineering or autonomous weapons.
Today, we're actively dealing with short-term risks and beginning to see the emergence of medium-term risks. Issues like AI bias, privacy concerns, and the spread of AI-generated misinformation are already impacting society. We're also starting to witness the early stages of job market shifts and economic changes due to AI. But, long-term risks remain largely theoretical.
