Nutanix CEO On 'Areas Of Concern' In VMware-Broadcom Deal For Customers And Partners
Rajiv Ramaswami, CEO of Nutanix , says there are many "areas of concern" for VMware partners and customers as Broadcom's acquisition of the company is expected to close on Oct. 30.
Ramaswami, who was a top executive at VMware prior to becoming Nutanix's CEO, said he knows what happens when Broadcom acquires a company.
"Customers are not necessarily very happy. They typically will see pricing going up, roadmaps potentially getting shrunk, some products being divested, and support levels potentially coming down," he said in a Q&A session at this week's XChange Best of Breed (BoB) conference, hosted by CRN's parent company, The Channel Company, in Atlanta. "VMware, of course, is being used for mission-critical workloads by many customers. These are areas of concern [for customers]."
Ramaswami explained how VMware partners could lose customers once the deal closes, Nutanix's game plan for capturing concerned VMware customers and how Nutanix partners can make money by winning over VMware customers.

CDW Says It's Investigating After LockBit Claims To Leak Data Trove
The LockBit cybercriminal gang claimed to have leaked stolen CDW data Thursday after demanding an $80 million extortion payment from the IT solution provider.
In a statement provided to CRN Thursday, a CDW spokesperson said the company is "addressing an isolated IT security matter" related to data on servers belonging to a subsidiary, Sirius Federal. CDW said in the statement that it is also "aware that a third party has made data available on the dark web which it claims to have taken from this environment," and is investigating both the initial incident and the data leak claims.
According to a Thursday update on LockBit's dark web leak site that CRN viewed, "all available data" allegedly belonging to CDW had been published. The page appeared to provide a link to download a 94.7 GB archive of data. That presumably means the demand went unmet by CDW as of the 2:40 p.m. ET deadline Thursday.
Here's what else you need to know about the alleged data leak.
