The Many Advantages of Using AI to Improve Network Security

The goal of artificial intelligence (AI) is to mimic the same intelligence that humans display. While it has many uses, it could be a highly effective way to improve cybersecurity. If AI systems are used in the right way, they could potentially identify new threats, send alerts, and ensure that sensitize data is properly protected.?

A report from TechRepublic found that it's normal for a midsized company to receive approximately 200,000 cybersecurity alerts a day. This makes it difficult for security teams to effectively manage all threats. Some threats may be undetected, and that could allow these threats to cause significant network damage.?AI presents a solution to this common problem. Technology can provide cybersecurity professionals with the support that they need.

AI Can Continue to Learn?

An AI system is intelligent. Because of this, it can continue to gather information, making network security more robust. Deep and machine learning can be used to find out more about a business network. AI is able to identify and cluster patterns. When there are shifts from the norm, it's able to identify them immediately.?

Since artificial neural networks are able to learn patterns, they only become more effective as time goes on. Gathering information about previous threats allows the system respond to new threats even more rapidly. Hackers often try to learn how to exploit systems. Since AI is always learning as well, hackers can't keep up.?

It Can Spot New Types of Threats?

Hackers launch millions upon millions of attacks each year. Because they change the types of attacks that they use, new attacks can't always be detected. Threats that go unnoticed can lead to significant network damage. While the threat is likely to be caught eventually, they can do a lot of damage before that happens.?

That's why it's worthwhile to look into new and more effective ways to respond to attackers. Because of the way AI systems work, they're able to identify unknown threats and stop them before they cause any damage.?

AI Systems Are Capable of Handling Huge Amounts of Data?

Even a mid-sized company is likely to have a significant amount of network traffic each day. It's important to make sure that any data from the business and its clients is fully protected against potential threats. Even the best cybersecurity professionals won't be able to check all of this traffic, which means they could miss major threats.

With AI, it's much easier to spot threats that look like standard activity. Since AI runs automatically, it's able to go through significant amounts of data and traffic. By utilizing AI technology like residential proxies, that data can even be transferred. With AI, it'll be much easier to spot threats that would normally go undetected.?

It's Easier to Manage Vulnerabilities?

Every business network will have vulnerabilities. To keep a network secure, those vulnerabilities must be identified and managed. As it was stated previously, it's normal for a business to deal with numerous threats each day. In order to keep data secure, threats must be spotted, identified, and prevented. AI systems can be a way for businesses to assess their current security measures. That will allow for better vulnerability management.?

It takes a long time for cybersecurity professionals to assess systems, but AI can work very quickly. It's able to quickly spot potential vulnerabilities, giving businesses an opportunity to improve their security measures. This will allow businesses to greatly improve their system security.?

Security Will Be Stronger Than Ever?

Businesses won't always face the same kinds of threats. Hackers alter the methods that they use, which means that the techniques that worked in the past won't always be effective. It's also common for hackers to use many different types of attacks at once. You could be dealing with ransomware, phishing and DDOS attacks, or new types of attacks you've never seen before.?

When you're facing numerous threats, you'll need to prioritize and deal with every threat in an effective way. By utilizing AI, you can properly identify every type of attack and prioritize your response. It can be hard for humans to do this, but with AI, you'll have the tools you need to prevent attacks.?

Workers Can Avoid Repetitive Tasks?

It's normal for hackers to use different kinds of attacks. Still, the basic practices for good security will be constant. Professionals will have to take on many of the same tasks over and over again. This can lead to complacency, which could cause workers to neglect essential tasks.?

AI works to replicate human intelligence, but it doesn't get bored like real people do. This allows an AI system to handle repetitive work without any issues. It's able to spot new security threats and take steps to prevent them, day in and day out. Furthermore, an AI system can take a deep look at a network to find potentially harmful security flaws.?

It Can Boost Threat Detection and Response Times?

In order to keep a business network secure, it's important to identify threats as quickly as possible. When threats are identified right away, they can be stopped before they have the opportunity to cause serious damage to the network. Fast threat detection will lead to much faster response times.?

To make sure you're able to identify and respond to threats immediately, you'll want to make AI a key part of your cybersecurity strategy. Humans won't always be able to catch threats in time. AI, however, will find threats right away, allowing them to be properly dealt with.?

Keeping the Authentication Process Secure?

It's very common for businesses to have user accounts on their websites. Users need to log into the account to make purchases or access services. Other sites may ask visitors to fill out contact forms, which may include sensitive information. It's important for businesses to take extra precautions to ensure that the authentication process they are using is fully secure. By prioritizing security for user accounts, users can log in to sites without taking on any sort of safety risk.?

With AI, it's easy to authenticate user log-in requests. There are a number of tools that can be used to authenticate that a log-in is valid. CAPTCHA, fingerprint scanners, and even facial recognition are a few of the many options.?

It's common for hackers to brute force their way into accounts, allowing them to gain access to networks. If an attacker is able to enter an account, it could compromise your entire network.?

Summary?

It's more challenging than ever for businesses to keep their networks and data secure. One effective way to improve your security system is to utilize artificial intelligence. AI can do a lot to strengthen business security. In the future, it's likely that AI will play a vital role in cybersecurity for businesses.

Great article. Hackers can use AI to get into your systems as well, so you can see how AI vs AI cyberbattles might commence. These systems can help to calculate, automate and eliminate threats best when we have humans, with our knowledge of context, to deploy effective strategies to win.

Very true. FYI - A number of Microsoft announcements last week at the #MSIgnite conference, including Defender for Business, which was created for SMBs, leveraged the use of #AI.
