In 2005 I came back from a trip around the world with little or no idea of what to do next to make money. Only to discover YouTube.
And I thought this is going to be pretty big.
So I brought a camera, read the manual, went to breakfast meetings, often at 06:00 a.m. or some crazy time to tell everybody about the wonders of creating online video for their websites and what it would do for them.
That's when I became super rich.
Well, I wish that were true.
The response was generally really negative - cost, fear of the camera, technical problems. We would use (Adobe) Flash in those days. It was pretty low quality.
Today, of course, everything's completely different.
You could say that those companies that have really got their s*** together use video to connect with new customers online and to build trust and authenticity so that their website visitors say THAT person who I can see in that video truly understands my pain, my problems and looks like the expert that can help me and be a solution to those problems.
Nobody buys anything from anybody they don't trust or don't like.
And that's where video online cuts through better than anything else.
