Mansa's Big Bet Paying Off: Free, Curated Streaming Is the Future
Two years ago, when we embarked on the journey to create Mansa, we envisioned the future of streaming with a strong belief in the increasing importance of curation. We anticipated audiences would shift from traditional subscription services to embrace free, ad-supported platforms. Our goal was clear: offer a curated content library that caters to individual tastes and preferences while making streaming accessible to a wider audience through a free, ad-supported model.
Now, the world has shifted around us, and our predictions have proven to be prescient. The growing significance of curation and ad-supported streaming in the entertainment landscape is evident, and we are thrilled to be at the forefront of this ever-evolving paradigm.
Every day, our vision is progressively validated, not only in the market but also in our own data. Mansa's commitment to curation has translated into a higher level of user engagement than any of our free streaming peers.
Despite being in the early stages, we currently see average view time per viewer per day exceeds 65 minutes, nearly twice the standard.
By offering a content library that aligns with individual preferences, our platform has created a loyal and satisfied user base, with retention already in line or ahead of industry leaders. The data unequivocally proves that curation has become a guiding light for viewers in an era of content overload.
From the early stages of Mansa's development, we foresaw a shift in viewer preferences from traditional subscription-based services to ad-supported platforms. Our strategic decision to embrace an advertising model was founded on the belief that offering free streaming would be key to attracting a broader audience and ensuring sustained growth for the platform.?
A recent PwC report highlighted the rising prominence of AVOD advertising revenue, projected to reach $35.7 billion by 2027. As consumers seek cost-effective alternatives, ad-supported platforms have gained traction, capturing a substantial share of the streaming market. The data indicates a profound shift in the streaming landscape, with AVOD poised for accelerated growth. PwC's report showcases a significant CAGR of 14.2% for AVOD revenue, outpacing SVOD's 6.1% CAGR. By 2027, AVOD is projected to contribute 44.3% of total OTT revenue, signaling the growing acceptance of ad-supported streaming as a viable business model.
