Man’s Best Friend Teachable Moments: Be Unapologetically You
I never cease to be amazed by the care-free demeanor of dogs.
They just do “them.”
They play because they want to play. Fetch, wrestle, nuzzle, roll in the dirt, zoomies and all.
They sleep because they want to sleep. Knocked out on the couch, bed, middle of the floor, wherever. Snoring to their heart's content. Dreaming sweet dreams, letting out little woofs when they clearly are playing out a “hunt” sequence in their mind (this one gets me dying with laughter EVERY time!!).
They eat when they want to eat. And boyyy do they let you know it. Dinner time is not to be trifled with!
They protect the house, one endless barking sequence at a time. (Sometimes leaving your ears ringing for hours…)
They show love because… well they just feel like it! A slobbery lick of the face to say “Hey YOU, I SEE YOU!”
Not a care in the world if you or anyone else judges them. It’s simply who they are. They don’t know any way else how to be. And they don’t apologize for a second for it.
How can we grow from this insight?
Maybe you learn that trying to keep up with the Jones’ is never going to leave you fulfilled.
Maybe you accept that you have unique gifts that are part of the fabric that makes you… YOU!
Maybe you can appreciate the nuances and differences and benefits of each individual’s perspective and way of being.
Maybe you can allow yourself permission to pursue your passions.
Maybe you can let go of judgment and unrealistic expectations.
Maybe you can finally make peace with your dogmas and move forward with openness and a growth mindset.
What person would you be if you were unapologetically YOU?
Until next time…
Love. Every. Body.?
