Man's Best Friend
You would never know that my dad did not originally want a family dog.
In early January 2016, after learning that my mom may or may not have already put a deposit down with a goldendoodle breeder, my dad accepted the reality that a furry, four-legged animal would soon be trotting around our home. He did, however, make it abundantly clear that he wanted no role in taking care of the dog– he did not want to be responsible for walking, feeding, cleaning or picking up after the dog.
Just a few weeks after laying out those expectations, Milo was born on February 11, 2016. We knew the breeder had to hold onto him and his litter for the next eight weeks, so they periodically sent us photos of Milo in the weeks leading up to us taking him home. We were all counting down the days until Milo’s pick-up, except for my dad who forced a kind smirk when looking through the photos of our soon-to-be puppy.
Well, flash-forward to just a few weeks into Milo joining the family… they don’t call a dog “a man’s best friend” for nothing. My father loves this dog.
