Manners maketh the man - Values maketh the business

Manners maketh the man - Values maketh the business

One of the things I have learnt in the ScaleUp journey we are on here at DigitalBridge is that values matter.

I mean really matter.

I don't mean because everyone talks about them or it's the cool thing to do or even that it's one of those things you have to believe in (like Agile, SCRUM, OKRs etc) to be taken seriously in this day and age.

I mean because values dictate how things get down around here. Why things are being done. How we get them done and we move the various chess pieces around the set. It's the framework by which we recruit, orientate new starters and them contributing to what we're trying to build.

Yet it took me awhile to recognise [read: be convinced by our COO James!] just how important values are. It took me awhile to separate my natural cynicism and skepticism from having worked for and with large companies where culture, values and mission seemed merely a reason to spend a lot of money for external consultants to define and where nobody really even knew of them inside those businesses.

It's true what 'they' say. The only way you can build a successful team is to hire great people. And we have an EXCEPTIONAL team. Easily the best bunch of folk I've ever been lucky enough to work with.

Yet we've refused to hire otherwise stellar performers because they didn't fit our values. It is the one question ourselves we ask before all questions and after all other questions - does this person conform to our values?

So today we're taking the step to publish these values. They may not seem like much to you - but they are the result of a huge amount of effort by the team lead by our incredible COO James to discuss, articulate and refine the values that make us who we are.

They might not seem like much - but they're ours.

If these values describe you and you want to have the best time of your career whilst helping consumers design their dream bathroom, kitchen or other room, have a look at our open roles here.
