Manguard Plus Presents Heroism Awards to Security Officers Who Prevented Potential Drowning Tragedy at Dublin Port

Two Manguard Plus Security Officers whose quick actions prevented a potential tragedy have been presented by ‘Heroism Awards’ by the company. The two men, Anatoliy Ivanov and Ken Carter were on duty in Dublin Port when a man was spotted in a disorientated and highly agitated state at the pier edge. Following attempts to talk the gentleman away from the pier, who appeared very confused and distressed, away from the edge, Anatoliy physically restrained him from causing any serious harm to himself. Ken Carter, who was on duty in the Control Room, promptly alerted the Emergency services who dealt with the distressed gentleman and provided additional care.

Speaking at the presentation, Thomas Kavanagh, Security Manager with the Dublin Port Company said; “I would like to thank Manguard Plus for inviting me to present the awards, it was an honour. Without doubt, if Anatoliy and Ken had not acted so swiftly and professionally during the incident, we would have had a fatality. I also want to voice appreciation from the Dublin Port Company for the huge work Manguard Plus have put in with the security contract”.

“I knew that Manguard Plus and ourselves would be a good fit, but I actually didn't realise how good it would be. My eyes were opened to the value of having a security company that trusted their onsite supervisors to carry out the daily functions, but yet have the infrastructure to step in when a hands-on approach is required. I know we are in trying and difficult times, but somehow the security team keep coming up with the goods. From training, to assisting us with the recent varied operations, I just want to pass on my thanks to Sean Hall and his wonderful team at Manguard Plus”.

Leo Harris, Chief Operating Officer with Manguard Plus said; “It’s great to be able to present these awards today. I want to pass on my personal thanks to Anatoliy and Ken for a job well done and hope that the gentleman involved is receiving the help and support he needs. I am delighted that the team in Dublin Port are doing so well and it is a testament to them, the training and support we have provided, as well as the learning environment in Dublin Port, that has allowed our team to develop within that this potential tragedy was avoided. We look forward to working with the Dublin Port team to develop our colleagues further and I want to thank Thomas Kavanagh and Mark Nathan from the Port for continuing to support us on this prestigious contract”.

For their part, Anatoliy and Ken thanked Manguard Plus for their awards with both adding that the continuous support and training they receive from the company gives them “huge confidence and security in our roles. The company is top class and we are honoured to be a part of it”.
