Mandy Rennehan: The Blue-collar CEO.

Mandy Rennehan if from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. She grew up in a fishing town in a large family. The family struggled financially which led Ms. Rennehan to want a different future.

Some people have entrepreneurship in their blood. Ms. Rennehan is one of these people. Her first business was “sourcing” bait the old fashioned way- by hand- and selling it to fisherman. After high school, Ms. Rennehan decided to get into construction. It didn’t take long for her to gain a lot of experience, and a name for herself. She was hard working and didn’t shy away from learning.

By the time she was 20, Ms. Rennehan founded Freshco Retail Management Construction, now a multi-million dollar company. Freshco is a Canada-wide full-service retail maintenance provider and has some big-name clients like Apple, Lululemon and Tiffany & co.

Ms. Rennehan’s success in a male-dominated industry is impressive. What makes it more impressive, and important, is that she is an advocate for women in the trades and continues to support and remove barriers for women in the industry. She is described as honest, no BS, and uncensored. This unapologetically authentic version of who she is has likely helped her navigate her path in a difficult industry.

Ms. Rennehan’s business values are built on a respectful, fun, and fair workplace. This is evident when you look at their website and read corporate reviews. In addition to her entrepreneurial success, Ms. Rennehan is also a philanthropist, activist, and keynote speaker. She continues to breakdown the stigma that blue collar jobs are not to be respected. Ms. Rennehan’s work is reshaping minds on the importance of skilled labour and the impact on our economy.

Keep watching out for Ms. Rennehan- she has been featured on many tv shows, magazines, and conferences and is working towards building a more respectful and sustainable business future for Canada.
