Manchester Change Forum

Manchester Change Forum

I’d been toying with the idea of starting a network for change professionals for a while. Meeting people who deliver change on a daily basis, it had become apparent that most faced similar challenges but didn’t have a platform (in Manchester) to discuss. Seemingly networking events are common place in other parts of the UK, but for some reason not in Manchester. Following a meeting with Paul Clavering in November last year he agreed and we decided to jointly host an event. The Manchester Change Forum was born.

Paul was to provide the content and myself the platform. A room was booked, a presentation was created and the rest, as they say is history. Paul delivered a well received presentation titled "Transforming a Business Whilst Keeping the Lights On". What was great was the level of collaboration. People were challenging each other, sharing ideas, and taking the opportunity to knowledge share. This was a room of varied change professionals too. Cyber, HR, Regulatory and IT Change were all represented and I’d be confident in saying all took something positive from the morning.

What’s next then? I’d say we do another and the feedback from the attendees is in support of this. Please keep sharing my updates and once a plan is in place, I’ll distribute invites accordingly. If anyone would like to have a chat about the morning and/or how we move the forum forward, I’d be keen to speak.

If you need anyone to present at the next one, I'd love to share some of my learnings in my change role.

Sounds like a great initiative Alistair. Sharing knowledge, best practice and real experiences of delivery has got to be of benefit to anyone involved in change. It does not matter how few or many projects you have delivered no single project is ever the same but it certainly helps listening to how other organisations, industries and change professionals deal with delivering transformation.
