It’s tough to know how we as individuals might reduce the likelihood of such a hideous event in the future. Or even how we may be able to help now in the aftermath of such a tragedy. I’ve also wondered if I’d have the skills and presence of mind to have helped if I’d actually been there.
For nearly 40 years I’ve given blood regularly and I have updated and refreshed my first aid skills on several occasions – it’s amazing how first aid advice and techniques have changed over the years.
Perhaps you could consider going on an Emergency First Aid Course? God please forbid that you would ever need those skills is such a situation as a bombing. But would you know what to do if one of your children or grandchildren starting chocking? Or a work colleague started having a fit? Or a friend put a sharp knife through their hand?
A one-day First Aid course would give you the confidence and competence to practically help in an emergency. There’s a Qualsafe Emergency First Aid course running locally on Monday 5th June. And it’s only £75+vat. (If you’re reading this and you own or run a business, it’s a legal requirement to have a trained first aider in situ so that’s another good reason to attend or nominate one of your team to attend.)
If you can’t make this Monday, book another day. But do book now – don’t wait and think you’ll do later – you probably won’t!
You can book online Emergency First Aid or give Paul or Toni a call on 01925 812095 or email [email protected]
