Manage your mental health
These are undoubtably strange times for everyone right now but its now more then ever we need stay positive, stay connected, be kind and keep going, because we are all in this together.
Having personally suffered with my mental health in the past, I was and still am incredbily anxious of what is going on in the world right now. The unknown of how long COVID-19 is going to effect us for. Will I be able to afford my rent next month? Will Momma Tilley be able to come out later in the year for my 30 still? When will the gym open again? The list goes on.
Im sure I'm not the only person feeling unsettled and nervous with everything going on in the world right now so thought i'd share few things that help me get by day to day at the moment.
Things to do regularly:
- Journalling
- Stay connected with friends, family and colleagues
- Keep regular sleep routines
- Eat healthy, clean foods and drink 3- 4 liters of water a day
- Try to maintain physical activity - 45 minute walk, HIIT workout at home
Things to remind yourself regularly:
- This is a temporary period of isolation to prevent further spread of the virus.
- Remember that your isolating is helping others in the community
- You are alive and you are breathing
I find that having a routine and staying as close my "old" routine as possible helps me feel more at ease in these uncertain times. What is it that helps you stay positive at the moment?
Whilst reading The Guardian the other day with my morning coffee I came across an article about Silver linings and how to stay positive throughout COVID-19 and I wanted to share a snippet with you -
''Savour the small moments: Even during lockdown you still have many small moments to savour. The smell of coffee, the feel of the warm shower on your back and so on. When you stop to take in these moments, rather then let them rush by on automatic pilot, you are giving your brain a chance to process the pleasure, which boosts your serotonin – the feel good neurotransmitter that helps elevate your mood and make you feel calm"
