Managing Stress through proper planning, early risk identification and delegation is crucial be it for Ruling the Kingdom or Managing the Project.
Here is the nice short story on Modern Management from Ancient Wisdom article.
In Indian philosophy, we talk of King Janaka, a philosopher king. As he was a philosopher, the courtiers were always a little intrigued as to how he could function both as a philosopher and a king.
Just to test him, one day they came running to him. King asked them, "What's the matter?"
They said, "The capital is on fire!" The king was unmoved.
Instead, he asked the courtiers, "The city is on fire, are you on fire?" They replied, "No, we are not on fire."
He further asked, "Then, why are you looking so frightened?"
King continued very calm, "There are people who look after such things. So, why should we all get agitated about it!"
Isn't it true, in our daily act we get too close into happening events or occurrences and we feel something happened to us when in reality nothing has. This is because we function at very low level of understanding "me" and "mine".
