Goals, large and small – and at the right time.

Any goal worth having is worth waiting for. If it appears to come overnight, there may be something wrong. Perhaps you are buying it on credit. Falling prey to the “instant gratification” message that surrounds us from advertisers. Or are you withdrawing money from a fledgling business too early?

This is not to say that you should not reward yourself along the way in many smaller ways, for every milestone you reach. Research shows that a lot of little rewards add up to more than one big one, in terms of the satisfaction and motivation that we get from them.

So don’t store it all up and eat tea and bread for five years, then buy a Porsche.

And don’t buy the Porsche until you can genuinely afford it, which means it does not affect your business at all!
