Managing Email More Efficiently
Fuhrman Creative, LLC
Helping small businesses successfully find a voice online in a world dominated by large corporations.
Since emailing made its way onto computer systems in the 1970s, it has quickly become one of the top means of communication in both the personal and professional world. Its ease of use and accessibility make it an ideal platform for busy entrepreneurs and bustling businessmen and women to connect with clients and customers. However, it can become overwhelming as ads, promotional emails, and other marketing materials interweave through your inbox daily. So what can be done to most efficiently sort through the tens, if not hundreds, of emails we receive per day?
Time Blocking
Time blocking is the practice of setting aside certain chunks of time during the day for specific tasks. For example, we recommend choosing two times during the day to sort through emails - usually once at the beginning of the work day and once closer to the end. By choosing only to use these times to go through emails, you avoid the overwhelming need to check for new correspondence in between other work tasks and it minimizes distractions.?

Creating Organization
Using folders and labeling emails can help prioritize certain individuals or accounts and make it easier to find emails to refer to later. In addition, creating folders such as “client correspondences,” “inquiries,” or “employee communications” can help maintain clarity.?
Do The Easy Things First
If an email can be answered with a brief response (i.e., in one or two sentences), do it as soon as it’s read. Not rereading every email a second time minimizes the time and energy required to manage and maintain a clean inbox.
Going through email can be daunting, but simplifying the process using the strategies above can improve workflow and reduce stress. If you’re looking to create effective email marketing for your clients, Fuhrman Creative specializes in sending timely and relevant email marketing campaigns to capture customers’ attention - even in a crowded inbox!
