Here's how you can navigate conflicts during presentations like a pro.
Assertive speaking is how we handle conflict management.
Conflict management can be defined as the usage of certain processes, tools, and skills to innovate a problem or a creative way to find an answer and respectful ways to manage disagreements and disputes. It includes the ability to resolve conflict collaboratively through effective public communication skills, which involves active listening and assertive speaking.
It becomes tough when conflicts during presentations arise. But I have seen pros handling it as if nothing has happened.
Some years ago, I was in a seminar and the speaker was on the stage, and right above him was the air conditioner which started with leakage, and the speaker was talking about 'adversities in life'.
The speaker behaved like a pro and said this is another example of what I am trying to tell you at the moment, no matter how well you are prepared or behaved if something is destined you have to be graceful. I am thankful for this leakage which has matched the timing of my presentation.
Audience - laughed.
I felt - wow, that conflict was well handled.
Two things - presence of mind and subject expertise. It helps.
Besides, this is how you can easily navigate conflicts during presentations like a pro;
1. You need to be high on temperament and stay cool with your head.
2. Even if the situation feels worse, you have to make sure you don’t lose patience and say only the things that are required to be said.
3. Being on the stage, you can command the audience easily. Be optimistic and own it.

4. You are speaking to humans, not robots, and they also understand what’s happening. Be nice and calm. Maturity is all we need.
5. Disseminate anything to the organizer or your team member if the conflict can be addressed parallel to your talk.
