Anger is an incredibly useful yet largely misunderstood emotion. From an evolutionary standpoint, anger is triggered when we perceive a threat or injustice towards ourselves or our next of kin. It prepares us for action. However, in our modern and complex social structures, literal fighting or passionate displays of force are not appropriate responses. In our day-to-day lives, anger needs to be navigated through, channeled, and mindfully discharged.

9 个月Well written Shraddha. My perspective slightly differs because of my own analysis of anger. I realised that the outburst of anger was seldom on the actual situation, the situation infact was more of a trigger. Origins of anger lied in repressed emotions and my own helplessness to express them at the right time and place. So while consciously separating oneself from the trigger helps, the real work lies in understanding the repressed emotions and find a meaningful outlet to them.

9 个月Good point! I appreciate learning the steps to take to calm one's temper, mentioned. Although I have a query , why is anger still considered useful when we clearly have to control it and not act upon being angry.
