?? Employees most wanted their employer to focus on employee benefits, rewards, recognition and wellbeing in 2024.
?? Researchers have noticed that employees now want their direct managers to support their wellbeing and this is a significant change as they replace human resources professionals in this role.
?? While pay is key, 44% of employees said that a company that cares about their wellbeing is more important than a 10% pay raise.
? A full 2 in 5 employees don’t remember being recognized by a manager or senior leader in the last 12 months, and 60% said they’d like to be recognized more, according to a new interesting research published by Reward Gateway Edenred using data ?? from 1,000 people in companies with more than 100 employees in the U.S. (aged 18+).

?? HR has traditionally been the go-to team for employees who need support, but employees today want managers to improve their well-being.
Employees are increasingly comfortable talking about wellbeing with their direct managers, and 79% of managers feel responsible for their team’s wellbeing

?? Researchers found that after money and compensation, the third-best way for managers to enhance wellbeing is to offer regular feedback and recognition.

Researchers believed that recognizing good work is often overlooked as a motivator, but it can play a pivotal role in retention and productivity.
?Flexibility, Career opportunities and a manager who cares about them are the requirements of Gen Z
Researchers discovered that 18-24-year-olds are more focused three main areas :

Gen Z also tends to care slightly less about financial wellbeing support, rewards and recognition.
??Based on these great findings, researchers recommend five ways employers can lead in the wellbeing:

?? Use recognition as a strategy
?? Get excited about AI
?? Support managers to help employees
??Finally researchers conclude that employers are in a unique position to not only boost retention and productivity, but also to have a big impact on their employees’ personal happiness and engagement. Of course HR leaders have always known that employee wellbeing is critical to success but they need to us insights to build wellbeing and resilience.

This insightful research shows to what extent wellbeing is a priority for employees and even goes beyond compensation but the crucial finding being that the direct manager is on the front line of wellbeing and replaces the role of HR, therefore managers need full support from HR but also adapted training, especially with hybrid and remote work.
