It might be time to focus on your boss if you're spending thousands of dollars on professional counseling yet are still feeling anxious after a day at work.
New research suggests that your manager has a major impact on your mental health.
The Workforce Institute at UKG conducted a 3,400-person survey in 10 countries to determine the influence managers have on their employees' mental health and discovered that this influence is comparable to that of a spouse or partner.
The study found that managers had a greater impact on employees' mental health than do both doctors and therapists.
So, it is not unexpected that 60% of respondents to the poll indicated that their employment has the greatest impact on their mental health.
The research shows that the pendulum swings both ways, so a leader may have an impact on their team's emotional health for better or worse. This can present a fairly depressing image.
The study emphasizes that it could be time to look for fresh pastures for stressed-out employees.
