Manager vs. Leader
We're beginning a 12-month series for assisting our Supervisors & Managers in their training & development. I'm kicking the series off with a training presentation on Managers vs. Leaders and the difference between them and the need to have both skills to succeed in today's business environment.
I'd be interested in comments, stories and thoughts on when you went from strictly a manager to a leader. Was there an event, a mentor, a position or something in your business career that flipped the switch from managing to leading processes and your teams? Did you ever have the opportunity to coach someone struggling with their leadership and what was done to get them over the "hump"?
I'd also enjoy hearing your favorite quotes about leadership and how they resonate with you. One of my favorites is an oldie, but still relevant today......it's from John Quincy Adams......."If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more do more and become more.....You are a leader".
Thank you in advance - I'll keep you all posted on our 12-month journey and the leadership stories they inspire.........
