MANAGEMENT LESSONS FROM RAMAYANA — PART 3

MANAGEMENT LESSONS FROM RAMAYANA — PART 3

Some of the management lessons which are taken from the Ramayana are discussed below.

1. STRONG MINDSET TO FACE CHALLENGES:

While Hanuman was travelling to Lanka in search of Sita Devi, he faced many obstacles during his travel. Because of his sharp mind and good decision making ability he has successfully tackled all the problems which have encountered him during his journey.

Like that every businessman must need to take high risk in their life in order to gain more profitability.

2. CLARITY IN GOALS:

In order to bring back Sita Devi to India, Lord Rama has successfully delegated the work to his followers based on their ability. He motivated everybody in his team and assigned the tasks very clearly to each and everyone. This shows the level of clarity that he has possessed within him.

The same thing applies in the organization. Every top management should properly delegate their work into proper divisions and they need to ensure that every employee working in the organization is aware of their individual goals and also the organizational goals.

3. EFFECT OF OVER COMMITMENT

King Dasaratha, gave some commitment to his wife Kakaiyee during one such incident. Now, Kakaiyee used that commitment as a weapon and demanded two things from Dasaratha. One was to exile Rama for fourteen years of forest life and the other one was his son Bharat who needed to be declared as the next Prince for Ayodhya kingdom. In order to keep up the promise, King Dasaratha sent his first son Rama to forest for fourteen years and because of the over commitment he has also lost his life with the past memories of Rama.

Like that, the good management should not over commit to their stakeholders which are not feasible.

4. GOOD LEADER

Effective leaders must possess good human qualities and high social value. They should need to know their limits and must follow the path of righteousness.

Like that, all the modern managers should follow the above leadership qualities in order to be a good leader.

5. BE RESPONSIBLE

Due to the frustration, Ravana’s sister attacked sita. During that time, Laxmana was there to take care of Sita Devi. Immediately, Laxmana responded quickly and her nose was cutted down by him.

Like that, all the members must be responsible in their work in completing their tasks at the right time.

6. HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Shatrughan, Rama’s younger brother was going to fight with a Demon Lavanasura. During that time, he seeked advice from his elder brother, Rama. Rama educated him wisely and also advised to take care of his human force. He also insisted him to treat the force with equal and due respect. This has helped Shatrughan to win over that battle.

Like that, all the managers should share their work force equally and they should also give equal respect to everyone in the organization.
