Manage your Privacy Settings
National Cybersecurity Alliance:

Manage your Privacy Settings

I have the pleasure of teaching the Foundations of Cybersecurity at the University of Dallas this semester. For this week’s discussion thread, I have asked my students to research and apply the helpful advice from the National Cybersecurity Alliance with the following Discussion Thread:

Did you know that January 28 is "Data Privacy Day"? It is an annual event to generate awareness about the importance of privacy. Please visit the following web site and browse the information related to data privacy.

National Cybersecurity Alliance: Data Privacy Day - Stay Safe Online

Under the “Manage Your Privacy Settings” page, select one of the listed popular devices or online services links and check the recommendations against your configuration.

  1. What did you select?
  2. What did you learn?
  3. What changes did you make based on the information provided?
  4. Why did you make those changes? If you did not make any changes, why not?
  5. Did you discover anything interesting or surprising?
  6. Why don't businesses simply make these more secure and more private configurations the mandatory default settings?

I would ask my LinkedIn colleagues to take time to evaluate their privacy settings.
