The man who never retired

The man who never retired

This is a story about over 40% of Indians over the age of 60, still working.?

Raghav Mishra woke before sunrise.?

His body ached, but he had to work.?

At 63, he still laboured at his job, filling excel sheets and writing emails.?

His son had left for the city to find work, and now Raghav supported his granddaughter, Meera.?

Work was hard. Every day, he took the metro because cabs & autos were too expensive.

The pay was barely enough to cover basic needs, and school fees were due soon.?

But he couldn’t stop—there was no pension waiting for him.?

His coworkers, mostly younger men, worked faster.?

Raghav needed help to keep pace. He wasn't the young man he was 30 years ago.?

His back throbbed with pain every day. He feared falling behind and losing his job but feared retirement even more.?

No savings, no security. If he stopped working, how would they survive??

By evening, Raghav was exhausted, but his day wasn’t over.?

Meera greeted him with a smile, asking for help with her homework.?

He smiled back, hiding his pain. After dinner, he got in bed and stared at the ceiling.?

One thought haunted him: When will I get to rest??

Retirement was a dream for others. For him, it was an impossibility, a fear.?

If he stopped, they would have nothing. So, he worked and worried—every day.

In India, about 40% of people over 60 are still working, often due to inadequate retirement savings.?

This situation is becoming increasingly urgent, especially as many young Indians are delaying marriage and having fewer children.?

Currently, the number of single-person households has risen, meaning fewer family members are available to support the elderly.

Additionally, healthcare innovations are leading to longer lifespans. While this is a positive development, it also means that many may need more financial resources to avoid lengthy retirements.?

If this trend continues, more individuals could find themselves in a challenging position, similar to Raghav Mishra, who fears that he will have to work for the rest of his life.

To help combat these issues, Stack Wealth has introduced a mutual fund portfolio called "Ready to Retire." This portfolio focuses on:

  • Diverse Investments: It includes a mix of flexi-cap, low volatility, banking, and healthcare funds to spread risk and maximise returns.

  • Balanced Approach: The fund uses different strategies to provide a well-rounded investment plan that can adapt to market changes.

By investing wisely now, people can work towards a more secure and comfortable retirement, avoiding the difficult realities that many currently face. Preparing today can help ensure a better tomorrow.

A ?20,000 SIP continued for 20 years in this portfolio, with an annual step-up of 10% and an expected return rate of 17% per annum, will grow to a total value of ?7.07 crore ?
