MAN Launches eMobility Services
2025 marks a significant milestone for MAN Truck & Bus as it advances its commitment to sustainable transport solutions. With series production of the MAN eTruck set to commence mid-year at the Munich facility, the company has already received approximately 2,800 order inquiries and confirmed orders, underscoring strong market interest in its battery-electric truck lineup.
However, the transition to electric mobility presents challenges for customers, necessitating specialized guidance on fleet electrification, charging infrastructure, and operational efficiency. To address this, MAN is making substantial investments in both personnel and technology, ensuring comprehensive support for its customers throughout the transition process.
Comprehensive Advisory Services Through MAN Transport Solutions
Since 2018, the MAN Transport Solutions team has been at the forefront of guiding customers from diesel-powered fleets to electric alternatives. Over the years, the team has expanded significantly, with around 100 trained eMobility professionals across Europe. These experts provide tailored advice on all aspects of electric vehicle adoption, including fleet integration and charging infrastructure setup.
To further enhance advisory capabilities, MAN has introduced a new web tool designed to assist customers with detailed calculations, public charging infrastructure insights, and personalized depot charging solutions.
Optimized Depot and Charging Infrastructure Planning
A key concern for fleet operators is determining the number of required charging points. MAN’s depot planning tool simplifies this process. By inputting basic fleet details, including vehicle type and daily mileage, businesses can visualize optimal charging bay arrangements via satellite mapping. The system allows placement of truck icons in various configurations—aligned, staggered, or in a herringbone pattern—to determine the most efficient layout.
Additionally, the tool provides calculations for integrating photovoltaic systems. By marking the available rooftop space, users can receive an estimate of potential solar energy yields and cost savings based on location, further enhancing sustainability and reducing operational costs.
Public Charging Solutions: MAN Charge&Go
Beyond private charging infrastructure, public charging accessibility is a crucial consideration for fleet operators. MAN has introduced MAN Charge&Go, a service that simplifies the search for truck-compatible charging stations, ensures transparent pricing, and facilitates seamless payment. This initiative significantly enhances the accessibility of charging points for long-haul operations.
As part of this initiative, MAN is introducing its eTruck ready standard, categorizing public charging points based on their suitability for electric trucks. The digital map highlights two levels:
A unique feature of MAN’s eMobility 360° consulting is a European truck-charging overview map, displaying both current and planned charging points through 2025. By year-end, over 1,000 truck-compatible charging locations will be available, enabling efficient long-distance transport. Moreover, a partnership with E.ON will establish 80 additional public charging stations at MAN service centers across Europe by the end of 2025.
SmartRoute: Intelligent Route Optimization for eTrucks
To further enhance the operational efficiency of electric fleets, MAN has introduced MAN SmartRoute, an advanced digital service integrated within the RIO Fleet Monitor. This tool supports fleet managers by identifying optimal charging stops based on battery levels and charging station capacities, ensuring smooth and efficient route planning. As part of the digital eTruck package, MAN SmartRoute is available free of charge to eTGX and eTGS customers for the first five years.
Diverse eTruck Portfolio for All Sectors
MAN offers a comprehensive range of battery-electric trucks to meet diverse industry needs. The portfolio includes the 12-tonne eTGL, lowliner and standard semitrailer tractors, chassis applications with 4×2 and 6×2 axle configurations, and six cab variations across the eTGX and eTGS model series.
With its extensive eMobility services, strategic investments in infrastructure, and a well-rounded electric truck portfolio, MAN Truck & Bus is shaping the future of sustainable transport. As 2025 unfolds, the company’s continued advancements will play a pivotal role in the widespread adoption of electric commercial vehicles across Europe.
