??I’m off to see the man about a dog! ?I looked up, and excitedly exclaimed; Are you getting a dog? My uncle shot me a look and didn’t respond. ????????

I was still dumbfounded and wasn’t sure what to do with this information. I was curious, I wanted to know if it meant something else. it was my first trip to the UK. I had just turned 18. ?When he returned, I asked him about the dog. I never really got a proper explanation. It must be a common expression used here as I’ve never heard It before.

The English language alone has approximately 25,000 idioms and common in all types of languages. So, what does this have to do with coaching, you may ask.

Well, I dare say, effective communication in business coaching is important for success, and sometimes, comes with challenges. When a coach's message is interpreted differently than intended, it can lead to misunderstandings, frustration, and ineffective coaching outcomes.

The dog didn’t materialize but it made me conscious of different expressions used in an English speaking world. Since then, I have acquired new idioms commonly used in the UK alone.
