5 x Minutes Read for you and your Business: The Man-Date
Hey friend!
Don’t worry I’m not about to give you relationships advice.
That would end well for nobody ??
But I do want to talk to you about relationships.
I see relationships like a compass.
?? North = God.
His love and His way to live.
?? East = Mentors.
Wise men (& women) from the East, fellow pilgrims, who guide me.
?? West = Mates.
The ride-or-dies and ride-by-sides that bring mirth and meaning to the day to day.
?? South = Mission.
Those I get to serve, lead and pour into. Those who I get to lift up. Those that become legacy.
In a moment, in a day, in a week, in a season we can feel called to double down on one direction.
For purpose, we need to lead into God, seek his face with all we have.
For wisdom, we need to get commercial direction, to help us weather the storm.
For cleebration, we need to grab our besties and toast our wins and victories.
For fulfilment, we need find a movement to lead, a hill to die on and a person to serve.
Call each one a man-date in and of itself - an intentional encounter with someone who matters.
One particular man-date I want to call out today is the mandate of mission.
A mission led business comes to life at the juxtaposition of three places:
?? The worlds burning need
??The God-given skills and gifts you possess
?? The business model that builds wealth through service
If you do not yet run a business, for God or for good. Why not?
Why would you deprive the world of a gift it needs?
If you already run a business but don’t have a way to mentor, coach or counsel others. Why not?
Why would you insist on doing the merely mechanical or transactional?
John Mark Comer says that the world is in a “discipleship crisis” AKA people need leading.
Jo Bloggs might say that the answer is in government.
Jane Bloggs might think the answer is in religion.
It’s not.
I think it's you.
You, friend, are called to commercial discipleship.
For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land of flowing streams and pools of water, with fountains and springs that gush out in the valleys and hills.
- Deuteronomy 8:7
Here are a four examples of what they could like - let's call them streams, fountains, pools and rivers.

1. Streams – A Membership (Subscription-based Model)
Industry: Accounting
Example: Financial Wellness Community for Purpose-Driven Professionals
??The burning need: People need help managing their money in a way that aligns with their values and long-term goals.
?? The skills you use: Your financial know-how, tax smarts, and responsible money management tips.
?? The way you bank loads of time, energy, and money: Create useful content once, then let it work for you—steady income, less hustle.
2. Fountains – Advisory Services and Retainers
Industry: Coaching
Example: Holistic Mental Health Consulting for Corporate Clients
??The burning need: Companies need to fix burnout and boost mental well-being, but don’t know where to start.
??The skills you use: Your expertise in mental health, designing wellness programs, and offering practical advice.
?? The way you bank loads of time, energy, and money: Retainer-based work means regular income, so you're not constantly chasing new clients—more stability, less stress.
3. Pools – A Referral Partnership with Other Businesses
Industry: Personal Training
Example: Ethical Personal Training Referral Network
?? The burning need: People want a complete wellness plan but don’t know where to find trusted pros in different areas.
?? The skills you use: Your ability to build relationships, care for clients, and offer expert fitness coaching.
?? The way you bank loads of time, energy, and money: Set up referral partnerships, then watch passive income roll in without much extra effort—more time for what matters.
4. Springs – A Practitioner Model Where You Train Others
Industry: Law
Example: Purpose-Driven Legal Mentorship Program
?? The burning need: Aspiring lawyers want practical, ethical training to navigate the legal world with integrity and purpose.
?? The skills you use: Your legal expertise, courtroom experience, and mentorship skills.
??The way you bank loads of time, energy, and money: Build a course or mentorship program once, then offer it over and over—earning steady income while shaping the next generation of lawyers who care about doing right by their clients.
You can:
better monetise your skills,
serve the world’s need
and build a stream of peaceful, predictable, profits.
There is a man-date - an intentional connection with someone that matters.
And there is a mandate - a clear burning commission for someone just like you to go make a difference.
The question is when are you going to make a move?
Love you, Love me x

3 x Thoughts from the Three Ps of Business, for Good: PURPOSE, PEOPLE, PROFITS
This is the formula I follow to help clients launch and grow a business with God at the centre
* ???? - You need good counsel. When was the last time you found a friendly ear to listen to you?
* ???? -?Who could you choose to mentor or take under your wing? Good leaders seek legacy.
* ??-? Do you know your profit margin? If not work it out, quickly.
