Malware Types Description
Virus: Malicious code that resides inside a host file or program and requires a trigger to execute.
Worm: Malicious code that can subsist and spread on its own.
Trojan: Malicious code that masquerades as a legitimate file, often delivering an exploit payload.
Ransomware: Malware that can encrypt or lock end user data and extract a ransom before releasing the decryption key or process.
Anti-AV: Malware that disables protection software.
Backdoor: Malware that allows remote access and bypasses local authentication.
Rootkit: Software that can hide itself and that allows an attacker to gain root level permissions and access.
Spyware: Malware that collects information and forwards it to an attacker.
Adware: Active content that displays unwanted popups and advertisements.
